Bride Collapses As Ex-Lover Stops Wedding

Something that looked like a melodrama happened recently in Edo State. It was like a scene in a home movie, during a wedding ceremony on Saturday in the state capital when a woman marched to the church altar, grabbed the microphone from the officiating minister, accused the groom of deceiving and dumping her, and demanded that the wedding ceremony be stopped immediately.

The dramatic scene occurred at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Benin City, during a wedding ceremony between and his bride, whose names were given as Dele and Blessing.

The enraged lover was said to have learnt about the wedding ceremony from a Facebook post before the traditional marriage.

It was gathered that the jilted woman stormed the church with some hefty-looking men before 7 am and had to wait patiently till the wedding ceremony began around midday.

Trouble started when the officiating pastor asked the congregation if anyone “knows of any reason for which the couple should not be joined as husband and wife” that the jilted lover marched to the altar, seized the microphone from the Pastor and shouted, “No! No! This wedding will not hold.”

The shocked Pastor was said to have repeated the announcement for the second time, and the light-complexioned woman again answered, “No” in a thunderous voice. And the congregation went into frenzy.

She narrated how the groom proposed to marry her in 2017, after a courtship that lasted for seven years and intimidated the curious congregation that she entered into a covenant with Dele before the church altar where he worshiped.

She wondered why Dele abandoned her and was no longer picking her calls. She queried, “Why? What did I do to you?”

While the drama was going on the new bride, who watched helplessly collapsed on her seat and the groom broke down in tears.

The pastor had no other choice than to suspend the wedding and the entire neighborhood of the church was thrown into confusion

A female member of the church who did not want to be named, claimed that Dele was sighted at the birthday celebration of the ex lover just few weeks ago.  “Dele attended her birthday few weeks ago. It will surprise you to know that Dele was still going to see that girl at home. Why will you do such thing when your wedding is around the corner,” she queried.

It was learnt that a couple of hours later the officiating pastor was allegedly given another directive by the authorities of the church, after some issues had been sorted out, to wed the couple.
